Mark Lazarowicz MP, Member of Parliament for Edinburgh North & Leith, will be leading a debate in the House of Commons tomorrow on the future of inter-city rail services.
Amongst other issues he will take the opportunity of the debate to call for:
- Faster trains between London, the North of England on the East Coast main line, as a condition of the new franchise for that route which is currently up for re-tender;
- Ensuring the revised Cross Country franchise provides more and faster trains between Central Scotland and the north-west of England
- A commitment from the government that it will investigate the possibility of new high speed rail routes in the medium and long-term.
The debate will take place in Westminster Hall tomorrow (Tuesday) morning between 9.30-11.00am.
